LyondellBasell Alathon® L5906 High Density Polyethylene
Categories: Polymer; Film; Thermoplastic; Polyethylene (PE); High Density (HDPE); High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Film Grade

Material Notes: Applications
ALATHON XL 5906 is a high molecular weight high density polyethylene homopolymer with a broad bimodal molecular weight distribution. This resin exhibits excellent stiffness, very high tensile strength, and low gels. Opportunities for this type of product include paper replacement applications as well as mono-and multi-layer films requiring both stiffness and toughness.

Regulatory Status
XL 5906meets the requirements of Food and Drug Administration regulation, 21 CFR 177.1520. This regulation allows the use of this olefin polymer in "…articles or components of articles intended for use in contact with food." Specific limitations or conditions of use may apply.

Processing Techniques
Specific recommendations for processing XL 5906 can only be made when the processing conditions, equipment and end use are known.

Typical Extrusion Conditions
BUR=4:1, Neck Height= 6 Die Diameters, 0.5 Mil Film, Melt Temperature= 390°-410°F(199°-210°C)

This product is from the former Equistar product line.
