Westlake EMAC® SP2404 18.5% EMA Copolymer
Categories: Polymer; Thermoplastic; Ethylene Methyl Acrylate

Material Notes: Westlake EMAC SP2404 is a 18.5% EMA copolymer designed for blown film, tie-layer, coextrusions, and blending where flexibility and strength are important. SP2404 provides excellent elasticity and low temperature performance. Articles produced from SP2404 will exhibit very high C.O.F without addition of slip or anti-blocking agents. Key attributes of SP2404 include: good adhesion to various substrates, compatibility with numerous resins, good heat and RF sealing, and low temperature toughness. It is also soft, flexible, and tough without plasticizers. Its applications include: blown and cast films, flexible packaging, tie-layer, and compatibilizer. This resin grade complies with 21 CFR 177.1340. EMAC resins adhere to and are compatible with a wide range of materials including paper, polyolefins, oriented polyolefins, polyesters, ionomers, PVC, unplasticized PVC, and other polar polymers. They are made for use as a heat seal layer, adhesive layer, or modifier for cost/performance enhancement. They are soft, pliable, and tough at ambient and freezing temperatures and exhibit excellent ESCR. These polymers exhibit high solids fillability and compatibility with a wide range of polymers. This facilitates their uses as bases for all-purpose concentrates for addition to a wide spectrum of polymers. They process like LDPE.
