This 12% chromium alloy is an air-hardening steel. Preheat and postweld heat treatments are required to achieve welds of adequate ductility for many engineering purposes. The most common application for this alloy is welding 410, 414, and 416 forgings or castings. 410 alloy can be deposited on carbon steel as an overlay to resist corrosion, erosion and abrasion. Information provided by Universal Wire Works for their line of welding wire and filler metal. |
