Covestro Desmodur® E 2200/76 Polyurethane
Categories: Polymer; Thermoset; Polyurethane, TS

Material Notes: Desmodur® E 2200/76 is a prepolymer based on diphenylmethane-diisocyanate (MDI) with isomers.

Properties / Applications: Desmodur® E 2200/76 is suitable for the flexibilization of Desmodur® E 21/E 23 or similar products, as a binder for granular rubber or in combination with suitable polyols for the formulation of flexible coatings and sealing compounds. Desmodur® E 2200/76 can also be used as a raw material for the formulation of solvent-free, moisture-curing, one-component adhesives or in combination with Baycoll® for the formulation of two-component adhesives. Such adhesives can be used to bond a wide variety of materials such as wood, metal and plastic. It must be ensured that the containers - including those that are empty – are kept sealed. Above all, contact with water must be prevented as it reacts with Desmodur® E 2200/76 to form polyureas and carbon dioxide. During storage, sample withdrawal, transfer and processing of Desmodur® E 2200/76, the ingress of water in any form (damp containers, aqueous solvents, moist air) must be prevented as otherwise the formation of carbon dioxide may cause a dangerous increase in pressure in the tanks and containers. Furthermore, the formation of polyureas in Desmodur® E 2200/76 may cause turbidity and possibly solid deposits which may then block filters, pumps and pipelines.
