Durez® 31513 is a thermosetting phenol formaldehyde resin of the one-step type ( resole ), dissolved in MEK. Durez® 31513 is recommended for use in nitrile rubber solvent cements. 30 to 75 parts of resin per 100 parts of rubber are used depending on the degree of reinforcement, hardness or flexibility required in the adhesive film. Handling of the resin is much easier than standard solid resin because additional solvent can be added very easily. Strong bonds occur after the solvent has been eliminated and as they age, they become even stronger. Where increased heat resistance is a factor, cure temperatures oF120°C and higher are recommended. In many applications curing at room temperature is sufficient. Cements based on Durez® 31513 have a variety of uses, such as metal to metal adhesion, metalrubber bonding systems, brake lining bonding systems, shoe manufacturing and general adhesives.Information provided by Sumitomo Bakelite High Performance Plastics (sbhpp) |
